My wife and I are considering moving out west to retire. Sun City Mesquite Nevada looks interesting - beautiful and not too crowded yet so we're wondering what it is like in the area to live. Can anyone tell me what it's like to live there? How about the quality of the homes? Climate? Taxes in Nevada for retirees? Cost of living? Medical facilities? Sustainable water supply?
I've been trying to find info but it's hard to come by even on the Del Webb site about Sun City Mesquite. Sun City Mesquite looks
Sun River St. George looks nice but I've heard it's getting over developed. Gold Canyon specifically Mountainbrook Village is a favorite of ours.
I'd really like to get in contact with somebody who actually lives there by email. |

We have also been reading about Sun City Mesquite. I read there is a problem with naturally occurring arsenic in the aquifer from which they draw their water. They have installed arenic removing equipment at the distribution points but that would be a concern for me. The supply is adequate just the quality is a concern.
Nevada has no state income tax.
Sun City homes are built by Pulte which has a horrible quality record in some other areas with lawsuits and ok in others. Not sure how it is in Mesquite. In our area south of Chicago they are not highly regarded.
My folks live in Mountainbrook Village and it's a beautiful place to live. We love it there. The only issue in Mountainbrook is the age, quality and energy efficiency of the houses. The oldest homes were built around 1998 and have cheap non energy efficient windows and not enough insulation in the attics and walls. The interior design of the homes is rather dated old fahioned for my liking. Worst thing is in Feb and March the Renaissance Faire comes down the road and getting in and out of Mountainbrook is total gridlock on routed 60 for 8-10 weeks. Traffic is literally stopped on the highway for miles. |
