Just got back from a trip to Ireland. Always heard a lot of Americans retire there. In fact we met a couple who seemed to really like it. There are lots of little towns like Doolin (near LaHinch) that are perfectly beautiful. The restaurants and the music and the golf are fantastic. The only bad thing at the moment is the Euro is killing the dollar.
Anybody have any experience with an Ireland retirement?

I too love Ireland and always dreamed about retiring there in a small seacoast village. I'd play golf as a local for almost nothing, have a pint of Guiness afterwards and listen to some Irish music at the pub. Then it got so expensive with the Celtic Tiger roaring. Unfortunately for the Irish, they have been hit just as hard as America, maybe harder in this real estate crunch. Property is available now and the cost of living is easier. Time to reconsider!

I don't know if i could dial up the adventurous spirit to live in Ireland, but it sure would be nice to live in a beautiful little town and enjoy the simple life there.
