Someone asked a group of people a provocative question - do you think your best days are ahead of you, or are they behind you? The question is very pertinent to us baby boomers, the generation where youth was part of our shtick.
I raised my hand to say my best days were behind me - and i was the only person in the room of about 150 to do so! Now granted, there were lots of 30 somethings there, but there were quite a few baby boomers too.
Since i raised my hand that day i have begun to realize that it is a complex question.
But first I would love to know how other people feel about the question - best days ahead, or behind? All thoughts appreciated. |

| My friend Jeff says that the only thing that matters is that you have to live your life like your best days are ahead of you. |

Very hard question, I don't feel that I've missed out on anything, and there are few things that I've wanted to do that I haven't done, so as long as I'm physically healthy and mentally sane, I think there are better days to come, for as long as I want to participate in them. However, I think that at some point, people will have to ease up and not expect so much from themselves and their companions and associates. We may need to just appreciate every day for what it is, whether it is good, bad or indifferent - just the right and freedom to do nothing if we so choose will be a great joy.

| I would say that once you lose your first family member then your best days are behind you. From that point forward it's really just a matter of who goes next. |

I really don't want to go back in time...unless it is when our family lived overseas with my husband's job...in England and in Singapore.
We had such a fantastic time...and we did everything together, as well as share Thanksgivings and Christmases with other expatriates when we could not fly back to the states.
We've been retired now for eight years...my husband took an early retirement.
Life is good, but I so miss the moving every couple of years, along with the anticipation of a new place to live.
Unfortunately, I STILL want to move around on a regular basis...am a hopeless gypsy, I'm afraid.
Traveling is always fun and we are so fortunate to still be able to do it.
But I'm afraid that when I visit a new place I want to LIVE THERE! |

| Just turned 60 today. It's not upsetting at all. My only regret is that i knew then what i know now. But it's not too late to use my life experience to enjoy the heck out of what i hope are the next 30 years or so. Happy to get this far, looking forward to the rest! |
