I thought you'd entirely missed the best thing about Hot Springs, but on second read-through I saw you mentioned thoroughbred racing. This is one of the premier race meets in the US and attracts some of the top horses. I think opens in Jan and runs through to the Arkansas Derby, three weeks before the Kentucky Derby. Clinton's mom was a regular before her death.
I did read somewhere that the crime statistics are related to this meet, and involve mostly the workers who show up to service the track. Supposedly doesn't spill over into the permanent communities. |
