You won't be too likely to confuse Paris TN with Paris France. Not to say they both arent nice - but they are different. Move to Paris TN if you are looking for a relaxed, outdoor lifestyle. If you like to fish and hunt and you are big on natural beauty, this is a great place. Prices arent too high and taxes and the people are really friendly. Lots of people are moving here from up north and from Florida to save money and improve their lifestyle.

What is not is cosmopolitan, or close to any big city.

To me it was a big surprise that Paris made the list of 10 most popular retirement towns. Not that Paris isnt a great place, but that that many people had heard of it. I wonder why that is - any ideas?

Paris is a wonderful place to live with very affordable living. There are a lot of very good real estate companies, and the agents are very friendly. But what ever you do make sure you get a home inspection if you are buying a house in the area.

Paris is a rural small community that is slowly moving forward in time. It is a community that is technologically challenged. Internet here is still in the dial up stage unless you are within the city limits and can get cable. Paying your bills with a credit card incurs up to a 25% charge to your bill. Online bill pay is just starting not to be a dream, they are still working it out. The local law enforcement just got sued for taking 14,000.00 from a lady passing thru town, she won her money back plus 75,000.00 in damages. The local law also locked down the local high school to take the drug dogs through the school and parking grounds. Daily reports of drug arrests, shots fired, and lots of local thefts listed in local paper Paris Post intelligencer. The property value is low due to foreclosures due to lack of jobs. Unemployment rate lowers because people have to leave to survive, or are arrested for turning to crime in order to survive here. Teenagers cannot find work locally since adults are competing for positions at local fast food. Yes, everyone wants to know you. They are real friendly, until you turn around. The locals are bored. They gossip and what they cant find out they make up. Only one department store ..walmarts of course, then a burkes outlet and pebbles. Most clothing is geared toward the older polyester blend crowd.
