White Fence Farms was written up in 2006 by Southern Living Magazine as one of the most appealing retirement/active adult community ideas ever. Essentially it is hobby farming, with most of the hard infrastructure work removed. But its developer, St. Joe, has had other fish to fry in the Florida real estate meltdown, so the project went on hold and looked like it might have died. Recently (March 2008) there are web pages selling the concept at St. Joe, so it appears the project is going again.
