Are rentals available in the active adult communities listed on this site and others?

yes, there are many. use the search boxes on the site with "rent" or "rental" to find them. But you can try anywhere, sometimes the rentals aren't publicized. Try the Real Estate Classifieds in the Forum as well - or post where you want to rent.

Yes, many of the communities offer rentals, either through their sales office, or more likely, through real estate agents. Contact the communities through the links provided at Topretirements. The classified section is available at http://www.topretirements.com/forum/f588/Real_Estate_Classifieds.html. If you are looking in a particular place, post on the site naming the community or area you are looking to rent in.

Most communities allow rentals, but the length of time can vary - many limit rentals to several months or more to maintain more of a community feel. So, ask about length of rentals to be sure their rental timeframe fits your needs.

There are probably more rentals available right now than ever before. Check with a friend if you have one who lives in one of these communities - they might know of some good options. Call the community, look on craigslist, ask a realtor. As Jan cautions, find out the rules about length of stay, pets, etc. In some places renters do not get the same privileges as owners, e.g.; tee times. I think renting before buying is the best idea, so take advantage of this market.

Q: y husband and I would like to rent a home in the Villages for Jan., Feb., Mar. of 2012 and am wondering if you have any advice for us?

A: My advice would be to go online and search for "rentals in The Villages". You can also go to the Talk of the Villages and see if people are advertising rentals. Try The Village themselves, they must handle rentals. You could try posting in our this Forum in the Classifed section. If you know someone down there already that might be your best source.

Good luck!

A member asked about how to find a seasonal rental for a townhome

This thread is helpful. I would also add:

Hi Randy

We have a Forum post which several people have posted to. I would add that if you have a specific community in mind call them up - even if they dont have any they might have suggestions. Sometimes there are bulletin board notices of rentals - if you know a person in the community that could be a valuable in to use. Try local real estate classifieds and also Craigslist, vrbo.com, or just search Google with a specific request

Good luck
