What Paradise Valley is like for active adults
Paradise Valley is perhaps the most exclusive suburb of Phoenix, located to its east. Average income is over $180,000, average age is 46.   Paradise Valley is home to as many as 12 resorts.  It is a bit confusing but there is another Paradise Valley, a community that is northeast of the Town of Paradise Valley - the former community is part of the City of Phoenix.  The town is dominated by Mummy Mountain; Camelback Mountain is to the south.

In 2007-2008 average home prices were well over $1MM,  some worth as much as $20 million. Prices have fallen back to an average $600's in early 2009.

What is special about this retirement community
Paradise Valley is an extremely wealthy community. Barry Goldwater Park has a statue of Barry.  The scenery of Mummy Mountain and Camelback Mountain is extraordinary.

What is not special about this retirement community
It is very difficult for ordinary people to own property in the Town of Paradise Valley  because it is so expensive. The community of Paradise Valley (part of Phoenix) to the north is more reasonable.

What kinds of people like retiring here
Very wealthy people live in Paradise Valley because it is so nice. A lot of snowbirds either have second homes here or rent for the winter season.

Paradise Valley is located to the east of Phoenix, dominated by Mummy Mountain and Camelback Mountain to the south. It is is mild in winter and extremely hot and dry in summer.

There is excellent shopping in Paradise Valley and especially in nearby Scottsdale.  Cultural opportunities in Phoenix are among the highest of any American city.
