Sun City is one of the first active adult communities in the world.This particular Sun CIty is located in Peoria, Arizona - about 15 miles northwest of Phoenix. It has an endless amount of amenities and activities. Sun City has 40,000 residents. It was founded by Del Webb in 1960. Every conceivable activity - 7 recreation centers, 8 golf courses, 3 country clubs, 2 bowling centers, Sun Bowl, and Viewpoint Lake.
There are people who love Sun City (the folks who live here), and those who hate the idea of all those retired people living together and engaging in non-stop fun and activities. Most of the people who try it like it. Among the reasons for liking it are the ease with which you can find new friends, relatively low cost, the easy living, and the endless list of things you can do with your time.

| People who don't like anyone telling them what to do will not fit in here, because there is an active HOA (Home Owners Association) with rules and regulations to protect the experience. There is a general rule of thumb that the age of the residents in an active adult community corresponds to the age of the facility - in Sun City that means the average age is well over 65. |

| There are endless neighborhoods laid out around man-made lakes and golf courses. Arizona is desert with hills in the background. Winters are generally warm, although it can occasionally get chilly for a few days. Summers are brutally hot. |
