Torrance is a city of about 150,000 in southern California, located just north of Long Beach and south of Los Angeles. It is near the ocean and the 6th largest city in Los Angeles County.  Home prices have been in retreat in Torrance since 2006, going from above $600,000 to under $500,000 in early 2009. There are active adult communities in the region.
