Southbury is a small town of about 19,000 in western New Haven County. It is near Oxford and east of Brookfield. It is also within easy driving distance (about 15 miles) from the cultural lights of New Haven and Stamford. Southbury is comprised of rural countryside, suburban neighborhoods, and many historic districts.
It is also home to the largest retirement community in Connecticut, Heritage Village. This community has enough residents (4000) to tilt the average age in the town, which is about 46 years. The average selling price of a home in Southbury was about $338,000 in 2005; more recent data suggests the average price is in the high $200's. |
