| What DeLand is like for active adults |
De Land is a small town just west of Daytona Beach in North Florida. It is the home of Stetson University, named after its early benefactor, the founder of the famous hat company. Stetson Univ. was the first private college in Florida. Although the population is about 24,000 it is part of the Daytona metro which has a large population. It is the county seat of Volusia County.
The Downtown DeLand Historic District is a mixed-use neighborhood near downtown DeLand. A second area called the Garden District is also being developed. DeLand is also home to many growing companies and is diversified economically.
Average selling home prices in the 4th quarter of 2007 in Daytona/Deltona/Ormond Beach were $181,100, down about 8% from the previous year. |
