What Flagler Beach is like for active adults
Flagler Beach is a small town on Florida's north Atlantic coast, just above Daytona Beach and below Palm Coast.  The town is named for the former partner of John D. Rockefeller in Standard Oil, who went on to become a famous hotelier and railroad builder in Florida.  The population has declined somewhat to just under 4,500.  The peaceful 6 mile beach on this barrier island is nicknamed "Florida's Peaceful Beach".  Flagler Beach is popular with retirees and has an average age of 54. Re: Discuss what its like to live in Flagler Beach
[quote:5b1d54831d="NULL"]Discuss what its like to live in Flagler Beach[/quote:5b1d54831d]I live in Bunnell, just on Flagler Co line. Here are my comments vs. Overall 4 vs 5 because of Hurricanes. Expense, dealer's choice, you can pick your expenses thus I can agree to 2 stars. Taxes desires only 1 star, not 2, as the State sales taxes all tourism and gas heavily, including sales taxes; but, property tax is the lowest among various southern states. Culture should be 3, as you can travel to Daytona, Jax or Orlando within 30 mins to 2 hrs for all the culture you desire. Recreation is right on with 4. Who has 5? Transportation should be 4 as Daytona and Orlando air flights go any where. Medical facilities should be 5 as open hearts are done in the 3 immediate area hospitals and extreme care is accomplished in Jax and Orlando. Political should be 4 (liberal)due to the retirees. Environment should be 5, as there is no other state as interested in wildlife, sea animals, water, etc. Last but not least Florida should receive 4.5 overall, it's not perfect, but as close as you can get to "God's waiting room".
