What Jupiter is like for active adults
The three Florida villages of Jupiter, Tequesta, and Juno Beach combine rich history, culture, and natural beauty to provide a retirement community with an unsurpassed quality of life. Retirees who enjoy communities with a small town feel and the benefits of a growing area will find these Northern Palm Beach County villages appealing. There are more than 100 miles of unspoiled beaches along the ocean, rivers, and the intracoastal waterway.

Located just to the north of Palm Beach, Jupiter represents an alternative to living in the big city or in a very affluent community. The city has had to wrestle with the issue of overdevelopment, a big problem everywhere in Florida.

Retirees and active adults 55+ who live in Jupiter Beach find it is possible to live near the water – either the beach or the intercoastal. There are many apartment buildings that offer carefree living and varying degrees of amenities. Or  they can choose to live in one of the many gated communities in the town or surrounding area. This diverse city is warm in the winter, has and has a rich array of choices for retirement living, including some extremely upscale golf and boating developments.

Jupiter has many retirement housing options including apartments and condos. Real estate prices in the area tend to be high, although they softened in 2007. A search in late 2007 on Yahoo Real Estate found 1,981 homes for sale on MLS with a median price of $397,000. There were 1,588 homes in the real estate classifieds with a median price of $398,000. Compared to the same source in 2006, there was a decided increase in the number of homes for sale and a significant decrease in the asking price.
