What Murray is like for active adults
If you have been looking for a retirement community in a low-key college town then Murray, with just over 15,000 people in southern Kentucky, might be the place for you. Murray State University – now known as the “Kentucky’s Public Ivy University” - is a highly ranked institution that delivers plenty of cultural opportunities to active adults 55+ living in this charming college town. Murray State has 10,000 students. Murray is pleased to be chosen as one of 8 certified retirement communities in Kentucky.

In addition to cultural opportunities in Murray, but there are many recreational activities as well, thanks to the presence of the enormous “Land Between the Lakes” recreational area just 15 miles away. This area is famous for its boating, fishing, camping, etc. This diverse city has a mild climate in the winter. Murray is located in Calloway County. Nashville is the closest major city, 120 miles away.

Home prices have increased quite a bit since 2004. Currently they are averaging about $140,000.
