| What Barnegat is like for active adults |
There is a Barnegat Town, Barnegat Township, and Barnegat Light. All are in Ocean County on the mainland, just inside the barrier island of Long Beach Island. This area is growing very fast due to its excellent location on the Jersey shore and the Garden State Parkway. Barnegat is about 45 minutes north of Atlantic City, which is where you would go for entertainment. Philadelphia is slightly closer than New York City, each more than an hour away.
The Jersey beaches are some of the best in the world. Unfortunately they and the roads can be very busy in season. The area, including Manahawkin and Toms River, has a tremendous number of medical facilities that have come here seeking retiree medicare dollars. Located in southern New Jersey along the Atlantic Ocean. It is protected from the ocean by Long Beach Island. There are many bays that provide excellent boating and fishing. The average July high temperature is 86 and the average January high is 41 (the low is 22). The wettest month is August (5").
