| What Waretown is like for active adults |
Waretown is a small town of about 1,500 people about midway down New Jersey's Atlantic Coast. If you come through NJ on the Garden State Parkway you will go very near Waretown. To its west are the famous pine barrens of New Jersey.
Because it is really too far to commute to NYC or Philadelphia and because of the availability of land, many active adult and 55+ communities have been built in Waretown and the surrounding communities of Forked River, Toms River, and Manahawkin (see link to Active Adult Communities at top right). A lot of the retirees moving in are escapees from the northern NJ suburbs. Median home prices have been volatile in the last few years, ranging from $250,000 to $350,000. Zillow reports its Home Value Index in late 2009 to be $249,000. |
