What Holly Springs is like for active adults
Holly Springs is an old but fast growing town in the Raleigh-Durham area. The town is between Apex and Cary with an affluent population of 25,000, more than double its 2000 population. Holly Springs is working hard to transform itself into a charming little town. In the center of the town there are signs marking its historic district. The brand new Holly Springs Cultural Center is the most impressive building in town, an unusual and valuable resource for any town trying to attract new residents. Small shops line the pleasant route through town, and side streets yield some nice old houses. The downtown is brief however, which is just as well, since the Cary/Apex/Raleigh area is loaded with every kind of store and restaurant you could want. Bass Lake Park is actively enjoyed by town residents.

What is special about this retirement community
Holly Springs is in a very fast growing and prosperous part of the country. Town leaders are obviously trying very hard to make Holly Springs an attractive community for people of all ages, including retirees. The weather is relatively mild. Being close to the Research Triangle cities and the Raleigh-Durham Airport are big plusses.

|
What is not special about this retirement community
Property values are quite high compared to Florida and many other areas. NC has a relatively high tax structure. Traffic can be brutal on Route 55 as it merges onto Route 1 - the suburbs keep getting built out and there are too many cars on the road.
