What Oxford OH is like for active adults
Oxford Ohio, with its 11,000 year round residents and 16,000 Miami University students, is one of the undiscovered college town treasures in the United States.
Oxford is famous for the small town feel of its historic Mile Square, the pre-World War II residential area of Oxford. It is also known for its pastoral and forested setting. It is a pleasant walk to the Miami University campus or the charming Uptown area for the weekly Summer Music Festival, dinner at a wide range of restaurants and bistros, shopping, a movie or the one of the city's two farmers markets.
Oxford is served by the Talawanda School District and ranks high in K-12 public education. It has a wonderful library, the Lane Public Library, with exceptional programs for children. The Oxford Community Arts Center is a great cultural asset.
Five miles outside of town is Hueston Woods State Park with nearly 3,000 acres of natural resources. It offers outdoor recreational opportunities including hiking, fishing, sailing, canoing, and – unusual -- fossil hunting. There are over 1,000 acres of natural preserves on Miami University's campus open to the public.
Active adults who live in Oxford will find it to be reasonably affordable. Average home prices in 2007 were in the high $100's, according to city-data.com.

What is special about this community
Oxford truly is a small college town, with world-class activities, and a friendly connectedness not often found in today's communities. Elementary school children can still walk or bike to the in-town neighborhood elementary school - Kramer - the first in the local school district to receive an excellent rating from the State of Ohio (and again in 2006-7).

|
What is not special about this community
Housing in an established pre-WWII neighborhood is difficult to find, but the warmth of the community makes it appealing even to those who would prefer to live in an older home. (We do have a variety of very nice post-war neighborhoods and new neighborhood developments, however.)
