Phoenixville is an old town of about 16,000 near Valley Forge. It was once famous for manufacturing, including steel. Photo of restored Phoenix Iron Works courtesy of Wikipedia and J Clear.
There are several active communities in and around Phoenixville (see link at right). Home prices had been about $280,000 in 2010, although they suddenly shot up to over $500,000 at the end of 2010 -probably because of some expensive new developments going on line.
Phoenixville is home to the Colonial Theatre, which opened in 1903. In 1958, the theatre, along with some other parts of the borough, was featured in the motion picture The Blob. Now there is annual Blobfest to commemorate the movie and its impact on the town.
In addition to Blobfest, there is the annual Dogwood Festival. Tirst Friday night of every month the downtown stores, restaurants and businesses hold special events in the downtown.
