Loudon is a small town in eastern Tennessee about 30 minutes from Knoxville and the University of Tennessee. It is the county seat of Loudon County. It is also the home of Tellico Village, one of the larger active adult communities in the country with almost 7,000 residents. Loudon itself has under 5,000 residents and growing. Average age in Loudon is about the national average, about 41 years of age.
This area of Tennessee has become extremely popular with active adults looking for good recreation opportunities and a lower cost of living. The nearby Tellico Dam (created by the TVA and which dammed the Little Tennessee River near the Tennessee River) resulted in a vast recreational area. Median price of homes in Loudon increased rapidly but have fallen back into about the $140's by the end of 2008. |
