Port Isabel is a resort town of about 5,300 on a barrier island in extreme southern Texas, almost in Mexico. Corpus Cristi is just to the north. Surrounding towns include South Padre Island, Harlingen, and Laguna Vista. Port Isabel is a beach town and a popular resort, as well as being a retirement destination. FIshing, beach going, and relaxing are popular activities. The area is quiet and the weather is warm in the winter.
