What it's Like to Retire in Rio Vista

Rio Vista is a small town of about 7,000 people on the Sacramento River. There was a sensation in town in 1985 when Delta the Whale was seen swimming in the river here, 60 miles upriver from the Pacific Ocean. Trilogy Rio Vista is a small town right on the Sacramento River. Great fishing and location as it's only an hour to San Francisco and Sacramento. It's an hour to the Coast or the Mountains. Nearby Locke, CA. is the oldest surviving California town founded by Chinese immigrants. The Rio Vista Museum and the Western Railway Museum.

Climate and Physical Environment

The climate is great year round and is right by the Sacramento River. The average July high temperature is 91 and the average January high is 53 (the average low is 38). The wettest month is January (3").
The Ocean, Mountains and Napa Valley are only a short drive away.

 

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Rio Vista has a limited cultural life, but it is not that far to Oakland, Walnut Creek, or San Francisco.

Some Doctor's Offices are located in Rio Vista. Three Hospitals are located 15-20 miles away.

 

Transportation

There is a community bus.  Amtrak and regional transportation stations are 15-20 miles away. Sacramento and Oakland Airport are both about 50 miles away.
