The municipality of Broomfield is the smallest county in Colorado, with a population of 59,471(2013 census). The town, which received its name from the broomcorn grown in the area, is located along the technology corridor between Denver and Boulder, and is home to top technology companies. What is special about Broomfield

Broomfield is for outdoor enthusiasts with a trail system that connects lakes and parks. The town boasts over 66 miles of trails and more than 700 acres of parks and playgrounds.  The 1at Bank Center presents concerts, events and exhibits year round.

 

What is not special about Broomfield

Homes are pricey; Winter snow storms; not considered a walkable commmunity

 

Who will like retirement in Broomfield

Retirees who want to live in an town with a low crime rate, lots of outdoor activity and easy acess to a large city (Denver,) would enjoy living here. 

 

Local economy is driven by

The City and County is located equidistant between Denver and Boulder and since the 1990's has experienced economic growth, much of it focused in technology and R&D companies.  It is home to more than 20 corporate, national and regional headquarters, including Level 3 Communications, Ball, and Mrs. Fields.

 

Climate and Physical Environment

January's average temperature is 34 degrees and July's average is 76 degrees. Broomfield's annual snowfall is over 60".

 

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Broomfield offers restaurants and shops, and is home to the Flatiron Crossing Mall; The 1st Bank Center hosts concerts, Ice Capades, conventions, trade shows and community events,  and the Paul Derda Recreation Center features indoor and outdoor play areas along with an indoor aquatic park; the town also hosts community events and festivals. 

 

Crime

Crime rate is low in Broomfield.

 

Medical facilities

There are hospitals nearby in Westminister and Louisville, and Denver offers many types of medical facilities.

 

Transportation

Denver has an international ariport about 30 miles away; Broomfield is a biking communitiy offering trails throughout the community for commuting and recreation.
