The median home sold for about $110,000 in late 2014 - considerably less than the national average. There are many active adult communities here as well as in surrounding communities like Coconut Creek and Pompano Beach.

The city is trying to make the downtown interesting with events like the July 4th Fireworks, Winter Solstice, Margate Street Festival and St. Vincent’s Carnival.

Crime is just over half of the national average.

 

Medical facilities

Northwest Medical Center provides acute medical services in Margate. There are numerous hospitals in nearby Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.

 

Transportation

Amtrak is 8 miles away in Deerfield Beach; the nearest large airport is Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport about 20 miles away.
