Peachtree City is a planned community about 25 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia.  Although it is famous for its golf cart oriented transportation system, it is not a 55+ community - it is for people of all ages - the median age is 37.5. The population was about 35,000 in 2008. Peachtree City is actually made up of 5 separate communities: Aberdeen, Braelinn, Glenloch, Kedron, and Wilksmoor (the newest).  Each has its own shopping areas, recreational facilities, and elementary schools.

The city's amenities include four swimming pools, a soccer complex, an ALTA-approved tennis center, baseball, softball, and football fields, a 2,000-seat amphitheater, a BMX track, a senior center, a teen center, numerous parks and playgrounds, as well as the Kedron Fieldhouse and Acquatic Center.

Where to Retire in Peachtree City and Home Prices

Peachtree City is one of the wealthiest towns in Georgia with an average income over $80,000 and a median home price of about $275,000 in mid 2014 according to City-Data. There are about 125 neighborhoods including Lake Peachtree and Piney Knoll in 5 separate villages (Wilksmoor is the newest and under development).Towne Club is a  55+ complex with rentals.

CNN Money Magazine chose Peachtree City as one of the 100 best places to live in 2005. It is one of the largest and most successful planned communities in the world. Peachtree City is a designated Free Trade Zone. Peachtree City has every kind of amenity, including 3 golf courses and its own airfield.
