What it's Like to Retire in St Marys

St. Marys is a fast growing town in extreme southeastern Georgia with more than 17,000 residents. It is the access to Cumberland Island, one of the gorgeous Sea Islands off Georgia's southern coast.  St. Marys gets a favorable mention by most people considering living in the area. It is near the naval base and is popular for military retirements.  Obviously recreation is outstanding with so much waterfront everywhere.  Many of the homes and downtown buildings are old and cute.  St. Mary's is the second oldest continually occupied town in the U.S. (after St. Augustine). The city is the gateway to Cumberland Island National Seashore, it is also home to the Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base. Photo of Gazebo courtesy of Wikipedia and Legohead.
