What Carson City is like for active adults
Carson City is the capital city of the State of Nevada. The population is about 55,000.  The city is in a dry desert valley in the Sierra Nevada foothills at an elevation over 4,700'. The downtown has wide streets and some interesting 19th century buildings going back to the days when the nearby Comstock Lode was booming. The explorer John Fremont was the first European-American to discover the region - he named it after Kit Carson, the famous scout. What people are saying about Carson City

Carson City
I've lived in probably 25 or so places and around 30 years ago I lived in Carson City. To this day, it remains one of my favorites. It's a decent size but still has small town charm. Oct 30 is Nevada Day and its great--pancake breakfast at Governor's manasion, huge parade thru town; Lt Gov has a free chili lunch for everyone after the parade, tour the Governor's mansion, beard contest, and so much more. The town is the State Capital but everyone makes you feel like you belong there. Reno is about 45 mins away and airport is about 40 mins. Drive up to Incline Village Tahoe area and you will fall in love with the area. Northshore Tahoe is expensive but more beautiful than Southshore. Keep in mind CA side will have state income tax while Nevada side does not have income tax.
