| What Mesquite is like for active adults |
| Mesquite is an extremely popular retirement town in southeastern Nevada, almost in Arizona and Utah. Mesquite was originally settled by Mormons as a farming community in the Virgin River Valley. Casinos arrived here in the 1970's. The town markets itself as a low key alternative to Las Vegas. The population increased over 80% between 2000 and 2009 (to about 18,000). The median age is 39, a few years higher than the Nevada average. The picture above is of the famous Wolf Creek Golf Course. Photo of City Hall courtesy of Wikipedia and Stan Shebs. |

There are many golf courses and retirement communities in or around Mesquite. According to City-Data, home prices averaged just under $160,000 in late 2012, with many active adult communities to choose from. Those prices would be in line with Las Vegas properties (which have been severely affected). |
