Brick Township incorporates several towns in Ocean County New Jersey above Toms River. Parts of the township are inland while others are on the Barnegat Peninsula. Many retirees are escaping suburban New York and New Jersey to move to this less dense part of the State by the Jersey shore. Newsmax named Brick as one of the "Top 25 Most Uniquely American Cities".
Brick Township has easy access to the Big Apple but prides itself on its small-town charm. The 32-square-mile city, with a population of just over 78,000, hovers consistently around the top of the list of America’s safest cities. The commercial development includes plenty of big-box stores, department stores, and chain restaurants.
A plethora of active adult and 55+ communities have been built in this area (see link at top right). The median selling price of a home was $232,000 in late 2009 according to Zillow.com. |
