| What Carmel is like for active adults |
This affluent north and west of New York City is growing in popularity for retirement, and Carmel is one of the nicer towns (population is about 34,000 and growing). It is near the west bank of the Hudson River, close to West Point and Danbury (CT). The Retreat at Carmel is conveniently located in the heart of New York’s beautiful Putnam County amidst acres of natural landscape with breathtaking landscapes. Gorgeous lakes, parks, and golf courses are nearby. There are several hamlets within Carmel, including Mahopac and Carmel.
There is at least one active adult community in the area. Median home prices in 2009's 3rd quarter were just under $300,000. Photo of Putnam County Courthouse courtesy of and per license of Wikipedia and Anthony22. |
