| What Saratoga Springs is like for active adults |
| Saratoga Springs, also known as Saratoga, is one of the more interesting towns in New York, if not the country. For one thing, it is best known for the Saratoga Race Course which opened on August 3, 1863. This thoroughbred track is the oldest continuously-operating sporting event of any kind in the United States. Many race regulars come here to this town on the west bank of the Hudson for the summer racing season. Saratoga is also home to 2 colleges, Empire State and Skidmore. The city has a number of cultural and recreational institutions, with more than 20 golf courses in the area. The area is also justly famous for its mineral springs, where people have historically come to take the waters. Superhorse photo courtesy of Wikipedia and Adam E. Moreira.
