From the beginning, the Briar Chapel® community, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, was designed as a place in harmony with nature. We've preserved nearly 900 acres of open space, slopes and streambeds, and thousands of trees. The result is a more natural habitat for wildlife - and a healthier lifestyle for the people who call it home. And of course there are the homes, which are all built with rigorous green building standards. Briar Chapel offers a healthier way of life, and is the perfect backdrop for connections among nature and neighbor.
Intentionally integrated into the natural landscape, Briar Chapel allows for both imaginations and wildlife to roam free through 900 acres of preserved space. Walk, hike or bike along 24 miles of trails that run through the community, or wile away the hours in one of 10 distinct neighborhood parks, with additional parks planned.
The very design of Briar Chapel encourages interactions with friends and neighbors. Throughout the community, there are many opportunities to reach out and connect — whether at the pool, gardening at Briar Patch, at the Briar Club, or along the trails. A fully-established community, the only thing missing at Briar Chapel is you!
About Our Community
The Briar Club is the heart of the community and where it all happens. This beautiful building exclusively for Briar Chapel residents, sets the standard in sustainable building, receiving a LEED Silver Certification. Festivities take place both inside and out with a large formal lawn and cabana building with snack bar. Warm weekends are a splash at the resort style pool with two duel water slides, diving well, an eight-lane lap pool and a splash pad. Or you can break a sweat in the well-equipped fitness center with plenty of group fitness classes such as yoga, tai chi, or kick boxing. Our new sports court complex includes basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts. Things never get dull with a full-time activities director who keeps the calendar packed with fun activities for all ages.
The best way to explore Briar Chapel is along the 24 miles of trails that connect the community through 900 acres of preserved open space. Underfoot, the trail might change from wooded boardwalks to paved paths. But along the way, you can stop to admire community art created especially for Briar Chapel by local artists. Spanning Bennett Mountain and Pokeberry Creek, while connecting the diverse neighborhoods, community parks, the Briar Club, as well as the onsite schools, the trail system is perhaps the defining feature of Briar Chapel.
