Hayesville : North carolina

What Hayesville is like for active adults
Beautiful and friendly but very small town (less than 400 people) with a surprising amount of culture and many activities. Walk to the beautiful Town Square without downtown auto traffic.. Hayesville is near the mountains and lakes. There is hiking, golf, bicycle trails, mild climate, and cool summers. Hayesville combines small-town charm with the beauty of mountains, lakes, rivers and streams. Opportunities for camping, golf, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and water sports are plentiful.  Lake Chatuge has over 130 miles of shoreline, much of which can never be developed. The artists' community in Hayesville is diverse and growing. Plus it is only 2 hours to Atlanta, Asheville and Chatanooga.

There are active adult communities in the area, both in Hayesville and towns like Murphy, Andrews, and Hiawassee. Median home price in mid 2009 was about $160,000.
