| What Southern Pines is like for active adults |
| Southern Pines is a charming and beautiful town in North Carolina, just east of Pinehurst in the south central portion of the state. The population is just over 12,000. What makes it so attractive is a bit ironic, since a major railroad line runs down the center of town. But the tracks are landscaped in a wide buffer, and along both sides of town are cute shops and pretty homes. There are coffee shops, restaurants, and a very good independent bookstore. Radiating off of the main drag are cute side streets with beautiful homes. There is an Amtrak station in the center of town. This is golf and horse country, with a tremendous choice for where to play. Don't miss our short video of downtown Southern Pines (close out the initial box and then scroll down list of videos). |
