York, Pennsylvania is one of the most inexpensive places in the USA to live in. Homes cost on average less than $100,000. The area obviously had some rust-belt type setbacks, but is now actively looking for economic growth. There are some active adult communities in the York area. The National Association of Realtors reports the median home price in the second quarter of 2015, was about $159,200, in the York-Hanover area.

Very inexpensive. Pretty countryside. There are 2 colleges in York - York College of Pennsylvania and the York Campus of Penn State.

York is home to the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, which brings many nationally prominent performers to the York area. The York Fair,which claims to be the oldest fair in the U.S., runs for 10 fun-filled days every September. The Olde York Street Fair is held each year on Mothers Day.


The crime rate is very high.

Medical facilities

Memorial Hospital and York Hospital serve York.


Airports in Harrisburg and Lancaster are both within 30 miles of York.
