Round Rock is an affluent city of 108,000 people north of Austin and below Georgetown. It is proud to be the home of Dell Computers and a vibrant tech center. The Texas State University Round Rock Campus is a thriving contributor to the city environment.  Money Magazine named it one of the top 10 best small cities in which to live in 2008.  The average age in the town is younger than the national average whereas the median household income is higher at $68,000. There are active adult communities in Round Rock and surrounding towns like Austin and Georgetown (See Texas Active Adult Communities Directory). The median price of a home was $180,000 at the end of 2014. In the absence of an income tax, property taxes are above average .

There is a diversified economy and a vibrant approach to community here.  Round Rock is the self-proclaimed "Sports Capital of Texas."The City's Old Settlers Park offers a professionally designed disc golf course, cricket, twenty-field baseball complex, five-field softball complex, and seven soccer facilities in addition to the Rockin' River Family Aquatic Center.

Average July temp is in the mid 80s and the average Jan temp is in the high 40s. Round Rock is located in the center of the state, and is actually part of Austin.


Restaurants & Cultural Scene

With its busy corporate and commercial core and proximity to Austin there are many restaurants to choose from. Texas State University Round Rock Campus (a/k/a Round Rock Higher Education Center - "RRHEC") is a concept was envisioned as a way to lure colleges and universities to jointly provide education, training and degree opportunities on a part-time and full-time basis. There is the Round Rock Public Library as well as a AAA minor league baseball stadium.



Crime rate is about half the national average.

Medical facilities

Round Rock is fortunate to have a number of top tier medical facilities. Those include St. David's, Seton Medical Center Williamson, and the Texas A & M Health Sciences Center, among others.



Interstate highways and toll roads serve the area. Austin has a major airport. Public transportation is not something that is being bragged about.
