What it's Like to Retire in Woodbridge

Woodbridge is a suburb of Washington D.C.  along the Potomac River.   The city has been trying to transform itself with the addition of various Town Centers along the lines of those in Reston, Va and other planned communities. Where to Retire in Woodbridge and Home Prices

You can live in one of the town centers, in a traditional suburb, or in one of the active adult or mixed generation communities being built here. New luxury communities include the Potomac Club, Port Potomac, Eagles Pointe, and The Villages of Rippon Landing. Some projects have been delayed or gone into foreclosure, so investigate thoroughly.
According to City-data.com the median sale price of a home was about $290,000 in late 2014. Zillow reports the number to be $282,735 in mid-2015.


What is special about Woodbridge

If and  some of the planned communities are built, Woodbridge will have some interesting communities to live in.  Likewise if the rail connection to DC becomes convenient the commute there will be easier. It is nice to be this close to the Potomac and to Washington DC.

What is not special about Woodbridge

The real estate market has been in disarray for the last few years, with many foreclosed and delayed projects.

Who will like retirement in Woodbridge

Those who would like to be close to DC and near the water. The Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge is located here as is Leesylvania State Park.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Woodbride is home to Potomac Mills Mall,one of the largest shopping malls in Northern Virginia; There are several outdoor recreation opportunities, and the Potomac Nationals baseball team is located here.  For great restaurants and and the greatest cultural scene, Arlington is just 20 miles away, and DC is 30 miles away.



The crime rate in Woodbridge is higher than the national average.

Sentara Northen Virgiania Medical Center is located in Woodbridge.



Woodbridge is serviced by the Virginia Raiway Express Fredricksburg Line.
