What it's Like to Retire in Lacey

Lacey is a city of about 42,000 people in west central Washington. Originally an agricultural and timber based town, the economy is a bit more diverse now. St.Martin's University, a coed and Catholic university with about 1500 students, is located here. Lacey was designated an official "Green Power Community" by the EPA  for its use of renewable energy sources; 5% of its total energy use comes from green power sources.  Some people commute from Lacey to jobs in Olympia or Fort Lewis. There are active communities in the area (See link at right). The median price of a home was about $250,000 at the end of 2014, according to City-data.com.  Zillow reprots it to be lower at $226,790 at the beginning of 2015.
