I live in an active adult community in Williamsburg, VA and love it. There are multiple clubs and fitness programs in the community, but organized events at the clubhouse target couples. I spent some time with the Management Company and the Food & Beverage folks last week asking for more activities targeted to "unattached" folks--especially single women. They seem to focus on couples dinners, dance functions, and other activities geared more to someone with a partner. Do any of you have suggestions I can take to our Social Committee and F&B committees as ideas they should consider for singles?

Hi,

Just wondering after reading your message, do you mind me asking your age group? The reason being, I have read a couple of messages from other single ladies in +55 communities who feel that they moved there too young and feel out of place.

Also, I am disappointed that these new boards for single ladies have not taken off as I would of wished Sad

I too, would love some other input from singles who have retired. I am looking for an active adult community in DE or PA (which is close to family). But my concerns are moving into one alone. I have interests which include, travel, movies, exercise, walking, cards, etc. But without being able to rent for a month or two, it is difficult to know if anyone actually shows up at clubhouse events in these communities. Most of my friends are going to work for another 8 to 10 years. I plan on retiring at age 59 next year. I have visited several communities in DE but cannot rent in one without staying at least six months. That's a bit too long for me.
Does anyone have any other suggestions - or places in these two states that they are familiar with? Thanks in advance.

Hi all. This is my first post on this site so I hope I'm doing it on the right post? I've always lived in the midwest and am ready to move somewhere sunnier. An active adult community sounded fantastic! Being able to travel around in a golf cart, on site socializing and hopefully fitness classes and more. As well as not being responsible for lawn maintenance, home repairs, etc. I thought somewhere with the social vibe of The Villages would be perfect for me.

But I'm 52 and since I'm still single, I guess I need to put that off for several years. Does anyone know of any active adult communities for singles under 55?

Thank you in advance for your help.
