Surrounded by water on three sides, Guntersville has plenty of historic homes, a senior center and state parks.  It is popular with retirees for many reasons including its 3 golf courses (and many more nearby), great bass fishing in this large lake, and active cultural life. The average January temperature is about 40 and the average July temperature is 80. Summers are hot and humid here in northeastern Alabama.

Guntersville has numerous wildlife areas, a public library with many lectures, pretty good restaurants, a Senior Center, and a strong parks and recreation department. There is an active arts council with many programs for art festivals and concerts. The Whole Backstage Theatre Group produces 6 productions  per year.

Marshall Medical Center North is a 90-bed acute care facility.


There is a public bus system. The nearest International airport is in Birmingham, about 70 miles away.
