What people are saying about Maryville

The truth about Maryville...
Maryville TN is an ideal place to retire. Each mild season lasts the same amount of time so if you don\'t like the weather, you can wait a few days and it will change. I have lived in Indiana, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, and Nevada and I must say that when we arrived here to Maryville 10 years ago, I finally found home. With Knoxville only 10 minutes away, we enjoy the benefits of a larger area without having to tolerate their traffic. Mountain views are everywhere as you drive around this beautiful town. With the Great Smoky Mountain National Park about 20 minutes away, one can head down to the Townsend, the peaceful side of the Smokies, and vacate for a day. Or one can drive Wears Valley on over to Pigeon Forge and let the grandkids play at Splash Country or visit Dollywood. The school system here cannot be beat. The people are kind... even the downtown is safe... You could not pull me out of Maryville, TN with a crowbar!

what you should know
I was born and raised in maryville tn and there are some things you should know before moving here like maryville does have great sites worth seeing such as its parks and the great smokey mountains its government is extremly stupid it wont let the town grow to is potential cause they dont let many good buisnesses in and the police would rather get sit around doing nothing than to help anybody i been through that many times i have seen cops break many laws and abuse there power and the hospital is more like a quackspital think twice about moving here

Disappointed in Maryville
We took advantage of your newsletter and back-tracked to get over to Maryville, TN on our way back from Florida last week. Not even remotely sure why such a town is on your list of good retirement places?? There is ALCOA, 2 HUGE Funeral Homes........ in fact, one is across the street from the few restaurants on the main street of "Historic Downtown". Guess they offer 1/2 price on burial prices while dining. There is a tiny college and, of course, the Knoxville Airport which is along a stretch of highly commercialized franchised restaurant row. NOTHING was "special" about this place. Just another any-city-same-any-where-USA.
