The town of Spring City is located in Eastern Tennessee, in the Cumberland Plateau, and is home to Watts Bar Lake, a reservoir created in 1942 by the Tennessee Valley Authority. The small town with a population about 2,000 is a popular spot for boating and fishing and provide several access points with docks, marinas, and public boat ramps and campgrounds. The area also provides many opportunities for birdwatching, as there is a large population of great blue herons and osprey, along with a few bald eagles. Spring City is located midway between Chattanooga and Knoxville and is 140 miles east of Nashville.
