Sun Lakes, located in Maricopa County, Arizona, is a very popular retirement town and snowbird destination, with a population of close to 15,000 and a median age of 74. It's comprised of several active adult country club communities where residents enjoy golf courses, fishing lakes, miles of walking paths, tennis facilities, active clubhouses and restaurants. The town is located 25 miles south of Phoenix, with Chandler and Mesa also nearby.

Sun Lakes offers five country club communities governed by homeowners associations, some which are gated, and features several type of housing for those 55+. Residents can choose from condos, villas, townhouses, manufactured ,and single family homes with golf course views or water views. Because the community was started in the 1970's, there are many different home styles and prices to be found.  Zillow.com reports the median home value to be $509,910 in early 2023.

Sun Lakes provides a resort lifestyle with all types of outdoor activities, along with clubhouses that feature fitness centers, restaurants, classes and clubs of every type.  Sun Lakes has golf courses in each community, outdoor swimming pools, bocce, tennis courts, fishing lakes and walking trails.

Summers are very hot.

Retirees who like to keep busy and socially active, along with enjoying outdoor recreation and plenty of sunshine, would like retiring here.

January's average temperature is 54 degrees, with July's average 94 degrees and many summer days reaching over 100 degrees.

Sun Lakes provides many social events, clubs, and trips, along with many activities within the communities. For a bigger cultural scene, Phoenix is just 25 miles away.
