What it's Like to Retire in Asbury Park

As a historic shore town with one of the best beaches in the state, Asbury Park, New Jersey, is a popular artsy, culturally diverse and LGBTQ friendly community. It was developed in 1871 as a resort town, and today continues to be, with much revitalization and restoration of its boardwalk and waterfront development taking place. Since 2007, the seaside town has added shops, restaurants, and hotels to its 1.5 mile boardwalk, along with restoring the historic Paramount Theatre and Convention Hall. Because of its beautiful beaches, vibrant art and music scene, and the 70-foot wide Asbury Park Boardwalk, the community was named as the “Coolest Small Town in America 2017”, by Budget Travel. In 1973, Bruce Springsteen released his debut album “Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.”, as the early years of his career was spent here.
