Corvallis is a the home of Oregon State University. The city is located in the west-central part of the state, just above Eugene and south of Portland. It is also about 45 miles east of Newport and the Oregon coast. Corvallis has a higher education rate per capita than any other city in Oregon. The population is just over 54,000.
