| What Gilbert is like for active adults |
Gilbert is a very fast growing town of over 200,000 located southeast of Phoenix. It is between Mesa and Chandler. The city is a bedroom community for Phoenix and Tempe, as well as home to many retirees living in active adult communities. Gilbert is characterized as more suburban and more of a town than nearby Chandler, although the latter has a stronger economic base. The town's average income is much higher than the rest of Arizona. Gilbert real estate has held up better in the Arizona real estate debacle than many communities to the west of Phoenix.
Average home prices in Gilbert declined to about $225,000 in 2008, down significantly from 2006. |
