What Laguna Woods is like for active adults
Laguna Woods is home to one of the country's largest active adult communities - Laguna Woods Village - an age-restricted community. Its motto is Resort Living, California Style. It is located on 2,100 acres of rolling hillsides just minutes from the Laguna Beach coastline in Orange County. The community is comprised of 12,736 dwellings and is considered to be one of the largest of its type on the West Coast.  Laguna Woods Village is home to 16,000 residents averaging 78 years of age. The developer completed construction in 1986; it was originally called Leisure World. In a somewhat unique arrangement, about 90% of the residents of Laguna Woods live in Laguna Woods Village. The average age is 78.

What is not special about this retirement community
Like most big active adult communities that require a lot of people to live in harmony, there are many rules and procedures. The absence of any medical or assisted living facilities and commercial establishments is a drawback in our opinion. You might also have to contend with living in a community formerly called Leisure World.

Medical facilities

There are no medical or assisted living facilities in Laguna Woods Village

This is wrong. This comment give an entirely wrong notion. There are several assisted living facilities in the City of Laguna Woods and many such and nursing homes and hospitals very nearby. There are no commercial activities (except a restaurant) within the Village gates but MANY in the City and surrounding area. Many are within walking distance.
