| What Clearwater is like for active adults |
Clearwater is a very popular retirement town mid-way up Florida's west coast. It is on the western side of the bay from Tampa, along with St. Petersburg. The 3 towns are very close together (Clearwater is the smallest of the 3 and has the most small-town atmosphere). The area abounds with active adult communities and 55+ developments for retirees. Clearwater's population is just over 100,000. At 41, the average age in Clearwater is older than the Florida average.
Median sales price of existing homes in the Tampa/Clearwater/St. Petersburg markets was $135,300 in 2009's 1st quarter, down over 26% from the year earlier period. Prices near the water and in the nicer areas will obviously be higher. |
