| What Canton is like for active adults |
Canton is a booming city in northcentral Georgia. It is the fastest growing city in Georgia and by some accounts, the 5th fastest growing in the U.S. The city has a tremendous plan for development and its execution appears to be excellent. Many exciting projects are underway in the city to revitalize the community, using millions it has received for park and sidewalk improvements. The Historic Canton Theatre on Main Street features plays and other special events, and has injected new life into the downtown business district. Streets and sidewalks in the downtown area have been upgraded. Heritage Park is part of the Etowah greenway - there are trails for hiking and biking, a natural amphitheatre hosts many concerts and other events. There is an $8 million community center on Waleska Street, built in partnership with the Atlanta YMCA. There are several communities and many subdivisions within Canton. A search on Yahoo Real Estate in early 2008 found 1,489 homes for sale at a median asking price of $279,000 |
